18th Sunday of the Ordinary Season

 

  1. Today, the 18th Sunday of the Ordinary Season is being celebrated in our Archdiocese as Prison Ministry Sunday. In his message, Cardinal Oswald Gracias has encouraged us to live the words of Jesus: ‘When I was in prison, you came to visit me’. Prisoners – some innocent, and many victims of circumstances – suffer from utter loneliness and helplessness, and we need to reach out to them. You are invited to give financial assistance to the Archdiocesan Prison Ministry by dropping your contributions in the boxes specifically marked in the Church.

  1. Sunday School will be held as usual today. The Confirmation Candidates will have an extended class on personality development from 9a.m. to 12 noon.

  1. This is to announce that this academic year is the Parish Council Election Year in our parish, and that the elections are scheduled for the last week of January 2011. The first preparatory task is to have an updated list of all parishioners. You are hereby informed that you may check for your name, address and birthdate on the Parish Census Lists with the Parish Councillors, SCC Animators or the Parish Office. As per the Constitution, the last date for verification of names, addresses and birthdates is 7th August.

  1. On Wednesday, 4th August, is the feast of St. John Vianney. Vianney Sunday will be celebrated in our Archdiocese next Sunday, 8th August.

  1. Next Friday, 6th August is the Feast of the Transfiguration as well as First Friday of the month. There will be a Mass in Konkani at 6p.m., and a holy half hour in English at 7.30p.m.

  1. The Bible Cell of our Parish is organizing spiritual & practical Talks on ‘Care for Creation’. The next session is on Saturday 7 August from 5-7p.m. in Parish Hall.

  1. The Parish Young Christian Workers’ Unit is organizing an orientation programme on the YCW on Sunday, 8th August in Conference Room No.3, at 11a.m. All young working parishioners interested in knowing about the YCW, its meetings and its activities are welcome.

  1. We thank you very much for last Sunday’s Collection which amounted to Rs. 30,975/-.

17th Sunday of the Ordinary Season

 

  1. Today is the 17th Sunday of the Ordinary Season of the year, being celebrated in our Archdiocese as Parents’ Day, in honour of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the parents of Our Lady.

  1. Sunday School will be held as usual today. Next Sunday, the Confirmation students will have a special extended session from 9a.m. to 12 noon on personality development.

  1. Parents’ Day will be celebrated tomorrow / today 25th July, with gatherings in each of our four SCC Zones. The SCCs have taken a lot of trouble to organize these gatherings to acknowledge with gratitude the numerous sacrifices made by our parents. Kindly patronize the celebrations.

  1. On Wednesday, 28th July is the Feast of St. Alphonsa.

  1. There will be a meeting of Members of the Parish Football Team on Friday, 30th July at 7.30p.m. in the Parish Hall. All other senior and junior players who wish to be a part of the Parish Football Team are also welcome.

  1. The Parish Youth Council is organizing the annual INDEPENDENCE CUP tournament of football for boys and throwball for girls of our Parish. This year it will be an open tournament, so that all youth in the age-group 16-25 can participate and display their talents. This Tournament will also be used as a ground for selecting the Parish Football & Throwball Teams. The entry fee per team is Rs.100/-. Forms available with Fr. Henry and Br. Desmond. For other details please see the notice board.

  1. “Deepen Your Faith” is an Archdiocesan programme of faith education for adults being conducted for the last 18years by Adv. Joaquim Reis, at St. Andrew’s College, Bandra, on Saturday evenings. This year the programme will begin on Saturday, 31st July at 4p.m., and will focus on the theme “Ecological Crisis and an Indian Christian Response”. Those wishing to join the Course are requested to register in the Parish Office.

  1. Next Sunday, 1st August, will be celebrated in our Archdiocese as Prison Ministry Sunday. Your generous contributions are solicited in order to sustain the Church’s ministry to prisoners. You may drop your contributions in the boxes specially marked for Prison Ministry in the Church next Sunday.

  1. St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, announces the inauguration of its new residential campus, for courses in MBA, MCA, MS and MSc (Bioinformatics). A majority of students are placed through campus recruitment. No donations are taken at the time of admission.

  1. We thank you very much for last Sunday’s Collection which amounted to Rs. 33,285/-.

16th Sunday of the Ordinary Season

 

  1. Today is the 16th Sunday of the Ordinary Season of the liturgical year.

  1. Sunday School will be conducted as usual today, and the Altar Servers’ Meeting at 4p.m.

  1. Parents’ Day will be celebrated next Sunday, 25th July, with gatherings in each of our four SCC Zones. Entry passes for Rs. 20/- with details of time and venue are available with the SCC Animators. Kindly patronize the celebrations.

  1. The Hope and Life Movement is an Association meant for Widows. The next meeting will be held on Friday, 30th July, at 5.45p.m. All widows are invited to come for this meeting, in order to find grace in their fellowship and also to strengthen others widows in their difficult circumstances.

  1. Envelopes are being distributed to each family, encouraging all working members to contribute 1% of their earnings to the Parish Community Fund. These envelopes are to be dropped in the Community Fund Boxes in the Church. These envelopes along with the receipts may be collected from the Parish Office; Parish Councillors and SCC Animators will also help to return the envelopes to their households. The Community Fund collections are used for medical and educational aid to the poor and for Parish as well as SCC activities.
